Anyone else eager to see what Apple have come up with for their WWDC Keynote in 2 hours? I’m very curious to see their take on AR/VR

Yeah same here, interested in what AI stuff they have to show too...

I’m expecting to be disappointed on the AI front… if they haven’t been able to use any of their research to improve Siri (which I only trust to set timers and turn lights on/off) I doubt they’ll have much interesting to show now. Of course the challenge vs Google and OpenAI is that Apple (for good privacy reasons) want to do as much as possible on-device, and they have some impressive AI chips, but maybe not the software to actually make the most of it…
Microsoft’s recent demo of ChatGPT integration in Windows was very impressive. I really hope Apple can do something like that

Maybe you're right - I wonder if they've got some kind of integration going like that, although considering their track record of later release in favour of polish, maybe not. Guess we will see! Either way, rumours around the AR/VR stuff they've been working on have been floating around for a while now, so will be good to see what that actually looks like!

All the new AI stuff we’re getting is better autocomplete and dictation 😄 Automatic transcribing of voicemails and iMessage voice messages is cool too, but I think other apps have had that for a while already. Apple Vision Pro looks cool, and definitely with the most mainstream appeal of all the AR devices I’ve seen (ignoring price), and I could see using it at my desk to have infinite displays, but all the entertainment examples expect you to be by yourself which I don’t think my wife or future baby would appreciate… Theoretically you could have multiple and share an immersive experience together, but I was surprised that wasn’t shown off, and either way it’d be ridiculously expensive

Douwe: I agree on current state of VR being anti-social. Was hoping FB (a social media company) would help fix it Some features like casting what the user sees in VR are also cool (but buggy in my experience)
