Fyi… There are 2 different Getting Started pages… https://meltano.com/documentation/getting-started/ https://docs.meltano.com/getting-started It’s a little confusing.

Hi, @blake_hughes. Thanks for calling this to our attention. We will shortly be removing this one and redirecting to this one.
b
Ok. Thanks for the clarification.

We are the summer cohort of Meltano newcomers 😄
t
we love to see it 😁

Hahaha, I would say this is the second/third time coming back to Meltano. But this time I have the ultimate motivation to make it work: I will use it for a workshop next Friday (hopefully)
d
@cesar_garcia_saez We’re here to make sure you get there! Thanks for all the feedback
c
@douwe_maan Thank you! Do you know if Meltano is being used for any kind of project involving Open Government Data?
d
@cesar_garcia_saez the timing of that question is great, @cody_hanson just worked on that in #C03569WJXBL last Friday! He can share more details
c
@cesar_garcia_saez I took a first pass at writing a tap for the Socrata open data API last week. I was planning to polish it up a bit and then make the repo public, I'll be sure to share it in this thread once I do.
I don't know of any projects currently using meltano for open government data but I'd love to see meltano gain wider adoption for these types of use cases! Personally, I'm hoping to find the time to get more involved in my local civic hacking community this year and maybe give a lightning talk on using meltano for working with Socrata data.
c
@cody_hanson This looks quite interesting! Right now I am testing different FLOSS solutions to enable citizens to process, spot errors and get government notified of the problems, so they can be solved ASAP
Given that it’s impossible to keep track of datasets manually, I was planning to automate mosts steps in the process. I would also love people to contribute with ‘rules’ about what data should look like in the public dataset. The plain rules for Great Expectation are quite powerful in that regard
