Any 3D printing enthusiasts here? This was the Mother’s Day build my son and I built for his mom. Just finished it this morning.

That is so cool! I didn’t even know you could 3d print something like that!
I may have to get me a 3d printer at some point

They are getting so much better and cheaper! Mine is the Ender 3 v2 and I love it, even though it can certainly be frustrating when things don’t work the first time. It has been super fun “quarantine hobby” the past few months.
I also love teaching my son about it and troubleshooting with him when things don’t work properly.

can’t wait till my boys are of age for that kind of stuff 😄

Awesome! I had no idea you could do that stuff either. Great way to get your kids interested in things! Made me think about my senior design project in college. Went down memory lane with these pictures The black box is steel that we welded together. Plastic would have been so much better in every way.

That’s cool - is that the worlds first “smart” punching bag? 😄
v
ha I don't know about first, but it was a fun project

NICE

I sent out that video to my brother who's been thinking about 3d printing. I might get him that 3d printer you mentioned!

The tech is pretty good already but it does take a lot of patience and debugging sometimes. 🙂 Anyone else remember when CD ROM drives (or dial-up modems?) cost 350 bucks and were really glitchy? I feel like we’re in that phase for 3d printing… a niche product still but not far from being a household staple if the tech gets a little better still. (Just my opinion, of course.)

I think you're right! Can't wait 😄

Cool print. The detail looks great from that printer. My 9yr old and I made an Opportunity Rover model recently. More like a print and construct to be fair. Had to design a couple of hinges in sketch up too. Thanks for sharing.

Wow - that’s such a cool model! Nice to meet another dad (also Aaron!) doing printing projects with the kiddos. 😃
@aaron_phethean - How did you get the textured yellow in the model?
a
Left over spray paint 🙂
