A similar beginner question. Would meltano be a good use to move a file from SFTP to internal snowflake stage and then call dbt model to create the table. (These are small tables that can just be considered full loads each time) Wanted to keep the data and table creation together

Welcome @jon_brasher! I suggest looking into https://meltano.com/plugins/extractors/spreadsheets-anywhere.html and https://meltano.com/plugins/loaders/snowflake.html. The former will load CVSs and Excel files from various types of storage including SFTP, and the latter will take the records extracted from the file and load them into a Snowflake table. Then dbt can be used to transform the raw imported table into a schema more to your liking.
