What's the best way to add password authentication and a user to the Airflow webserver?
d
That link appears to be broken, but https://airflow.apache.org/docs/stable/1.10.13/security.html#password works. These would seem to be the required steps: • To add the
password
subpackage, modify the
pip_url
for
airflow
in
meltano.yml
to
apache-airflow[password]
, and re-install it using
meltano install orchestrator airflow
. • Set
webserver.authenticate
to
true
and
webserver.auth_backend
to
airflow.contrib.auth.backends.password_auth
using
meltano config airflow set webserver authenticate true && meltano config set webserver auth_backend airflow.contrib.auth.backends.password_auth
• Create a new user using Python in Airflow's dedicated venv:
.meltano/orchestrators/airflow/venv/bin/python
(see docs for commands to run)
Let me know if that works, so we can add it to https://meltano.com/docs/production.html#airflow-orchestrator!
@nt Ah, thanks for trying it out and reporting back! I think we should document this under https://meltano.com/docs/production.html#airflow-orchestrator. Can you please file an issue (https://gitlab.com/meltano/meltano/-/issues) with your notes? You, I, or someone else in the community can then create a merge request to update that doc.
d
with the latest airflow the command is
meltano invoke airflow users create
and I don’t think this step is in the documentation?

@dave_lyons Thanks for reporting this! @amanda.folson Can you please check this out?

Will do!
