is anyone familiar with running meltano from another python script?
n
yup, that would be what I was looking for. I was hoping to avoid using subprocess.run for it

I was hoping to avoid using subprocess.run for it
Why? What other way of running Meltano did you have in mind?
a
I've wondered the same--is there an API available, importable as a python module? (but not a big deal for us right now)
d
@adam_roderick You could import the
meltano
module, but there's no public API that can be expected to remain stable, nor do we currently claim support for any other dependency package versions than the exact ones specified in
requirements.txt
, since Meltano would typically be installed in its own venv without other packages with their own (conflicting) requirements. That doesn't need to stay that way, though 🙂 I'd love to hear more about this use case and the advantages over running the CLI as a subprocess in an issue!
a
We have a wrapper around the CLI that does exactly what we need. But the use case would be for simpler automation, rather than wrapping around the CLI. Like I said, not a big deal at the moment, and maybe never would be necessary
