@adam_roderick Good question! Known plugins are those defined in

discovery.yml

, which is looked for first in the project directory (which doesn exist, but you can create to experiment), then at https://meltano.com/discovery.yml, and then at the version bundled with the

meltano

package itself. The versions on meltano.com and in the package originate at https://gitlab.com/meltano/meltano/-/blob/master/src/meltano/core/bundle/discovery.yml, so making new plugins known means adding them to that file. (Incomplete) documentation around this feature can be found at https://www.meltano.com/docs/contributor-guide.html#taps-targets-development. I intend to add a section on this process to the homepage, and/or the page you linked. I'll create an issue for that in a bit.
