Hello! I'm trying to set up a custom extractor on my hosted Meltano instance. I assume I need to transfer a custom
meltano.yml
file so that Meltano recognises my extractor. However, I don't just want to overwrite the existing file on the instance. I'd like to take a look at the file and then update it. I'm connected via FTP, but I don't seem to have permission to edit/view the file. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

You're using the meltano hosted instance or self host? It seems like you'll need to have an ssh access to the instance to access it's backend.

I'm using the Meltano hosted instance at the moment. I was looking at the docs about accessing Meltano using FTP https://www.meltano.com/tutorials/using-ftp-with-meltano.html
SSH access would be good but I don't know if that's possible with the Meltano hosted instance right now
j
Yeah. That's what I also ask from meltano team. They recommend to create a self host instance for better customization.

Yeah makes sense. It might be easiest for me to host my own instance on Digital Ocean then
j
Yep! will ask you questions from you when you've done it already 😁
a
no problem! I set it up locally so I'm hoping it won't be too much more difficult to host it!

or you could use the docker image.

Just FYI making sure everyone can be self-sufficient something dear to my heart but as we just started the hosted service we don't want to give access to later find out that we have to revoke it. It's also a bit tricky in terms of infrastructure management (multiple SSH users and managing the ACLs) If you need anything let me know.
