After I create a report, is it possible for me to download the raw data (ie the output of sql query) from the UI ?
y
No there is not at the moment.
r
ok. is it part of planned feature?
How difficult would be to hack this into Meltano ?
y
It should not be that difficult, but I am not a front end dev, so I can not be sure. It depends on the format of the data you want to download (pdf is way more difficult than adding an export as a csv file --> you just convert the table to comma separated lines). Meltano is an open source project. We would love if you want to check our Vue.js app and add a Merge Request with the ability to download the data from a results table in a proper format.

I just need csv, so let me take a stab 🙂
y
That's great! Please assign the MR to @derek_knox after you are done and mention me in the comments
r
Sure, its going to take some time though!
y
We'll be more than happy to take you through the process if you are willing to contribute. The first contribution to an open source project is always a little bit more difficult and we know that 🙂

Thanks a lot. I have been working with Meltano from 0.4 onwards, and today I have had some good results.
Once I get my basic models done, I will take a look at the Vue.js
y
Thank you @raj! Keep on sending those questions here. Once everything works, the whole thing clicks pretty nicely
a
In the meantime, if you wanted to extract the results as a CSV you could probably write a Chrome plugin to do that 😉 I agree though - contributing to the codebase is the way to go!
I'd like to contribute too but need to get up to speed with Vue.js as well
y
Vue.js is amazing and both @derek_knox and @ben_hong are experts on it and can help with any questions you may have. My plan when I grow up and we have no more pressing updates needed for Meltano Core, our supported Extractors/Loaders and our pre-bundled Transformations and Models is to switch to a front-end intern role and learn all the secrets of Vue.js from them :-)

@yannis_roussos We'll share anytime 😄
