I am trying to use target-postgres with meltano v1.7.2. But it appears that target-postgres requires psycopg2 version 2.7.5 whereas meltano v1.7.2 requires psycopg2 v2.7.7. Whenever I'm doing pip3 install for one, it's removing the dependency packages for the other version. Could you please suggest a version of Meltano that does not have this dependency package version issue?

Hi @dipanjan_biswas! You should only run
pip install meltano
You don't have to manually pip install
target-postgres
or any other component required by Meltano. Meltano takes care of the dependencies of each plugin by installing it to its own environment so that libraries do not conflict. After adding a couple taps and targets, you can check all the venvs we setup under various directories in the
.meltano/
directory of your Meltano project. So basically, you just need to:
pip install meltano
And then run
meltano ui
and we take care of everything. Or if you want to use the cli:
pip install meltano
meltano init myproject
cd myproject
meltano add extractor <WHATEVER extractor you use>
meltano add loader target-postgres

# setup your credentials in a .env

meltano elt <WHATEVER extractor you use> target-postgres --transform run
