not sure what the best channel for this is but what do you think Meltano’s future role should be in managing metadata? even with the existing scope of Meltano’s integrations, you could have useful metadata being generated by Airflow, taps, targets, dbt, and likely your data warehouse and I imagine as more pieces are added to the stack that list will grow. the process of independently collecting and making sense of metadata from all those places can be tricky.

It will definitely have a role! I absolutely see this as something Meltano can do and add value to. We’re looking at working with the OpenLineage and OpenMetadata standards as well. We’re going to have a strategy blog post out soon which briefly talks about this, but should give you a better idea of where we’re heading
