Hi, what would be the way to update default target-redshift loader? I assume current owners is not very responsive (based on existing PRs and discussion in troubleshooting). Should I fork their repo, update what I want and add to available variants in meltano?

@mindaugas_nizauskas a couple things to note here: • check out https://hub.meltano.com/tap-target-maintenance for some details on best practices of what to do in this situation. Usually its best to all collaborate on one variant vs forking many slight variations but in this case the maintainer isnt responsive to forking is probably the best option for now • It looks like Matt was also considering building a new target using the SDK's SQL connector pattern https://meltano.slack.com/archives/C01RKUVUG4S/p1675462154066899 • There's this "Singer Most Wanted" issue https://github.com/MeltanoLabs/Singer-Most-Wanted/issues/18 • And we've also been tracking this as a target we're considering investing in, or partnering with the community, to rebuild in MeltanoLabs since it gets a lot of traffic but the maintainers are unresponsive
Let me know if you have thoughts about all of that 😅 . The TLDR is that forking and adding your needed feature is probably fastest but not the most sustainable path long term, the community is actively working on finding ways to improve it long term

I have the same problem. My company would like to take the ownership of the default target-redshift loader. We are advanced users of Meltano. How should we proceed here?

I forked and did some changes for my work. If you have any specific features/bugs.. i can fork and fix them..

@alberto_miorin @kk this is great! Glad to hear you all are willing to contribute. We'd be happy to make a fork the default variant. Can you all share your repos?
Its totally possible to have multiple well maintained variants but if you all are both working on the same feature its probably best for us to join forces and choose one that we all contribute to. @alberto_miorin maybe we can use yours and direct new contributions to that repo? What do you think?

I would echo what Pat said - we can take a fork and make it the default if folks like yourselves from the community are willing to help maintain. We’ll be investing in an SDK-based Redshift connector likely in early Q3 and expect to make that the default as well.

So I will just wait here, because I am open to contribute to someone's else (that is advanced version of the default I assume) 🙂

Any update on this ? I like to have BATCH support.

We’ve had priorities shift around and have not yet invested in a first-part redshift loader.
