Is there a way to verify a plugin connection using the CLI? The app has the
Test Connection
feature discussed here, so I was wondering if something like
meltano verify <plugin>
would be helpful.
t
You can invoke the tap by itself using
meltano invoke
https://meltano.com/docs/command-line-interface.html#invoke
r
Right. Would it be possible to invoke some tap - ideally using the plugin configuration a user has already defined in Meltano - in this way and have it exit after receiving any
record
message (i.e. not running the entire EL process)?
t
Invoke will read from your meltano config. We don’t have an official test method that will stop once a record message is output, but you can stop the execution if you see one. That’d be a nice feature to have though! Would you mind filing an issue around that?

@Reuben (Matatika) this issue might be of interest 🙂
This covers
--setup
more broadly, but I included connectivity checks in the overall expectation of “is this tap/target correctly configured” status check 🤔
r
I will open an issue. Our intended use case is more along the lines of verifying that the supplied properties for an individual tap or target results in a successful connection to the corresponding service, prior to running the actual EL pipeline. Thanks for the link @ken_payne!

Thanks @douwe_maan!

Thanks @douwe_maan. I’ll have a read-through of that and some of the related issues, and leave some comments. 😄

Thanks!
