👋 Out of curiosity, has there been any conversation around supporting an alternative to

pip install -e

for locally defined taps/targets? Specifically for those of us who are trying to avoid setuptools? Pip doesn’t support PEP-517 in editable mode (well, technically PEP-517 doesn’t regulate editable mode, which a whole other barrel of monkeys) but other packaging tools like flit do.

@ian_knox This hasn't been discussed yet, no, but I'd welcome an issue with your suggestions on how we could handle this better! There's no reason for Meltano to require setuptools
