@nevin_morgan I usually start my branch names with

<issue ID>-...

so that GitLab will automatically pre-populate the merge request title as

Resolves "Issue Title"

with

Closes #ID

in the description, but I don't care too much as long as merge requests are used and commits have useful messages (or are squashed together at merge time)
