This isn't something I did but I thought it was interesting - a new target popped up in the #C0489728QFL channel recently . Its a generic target for HTTP endpoints https://github.com/jaygrossman/target-web_endpoint. Seemingly the opposite of tap-rest-api. It could be useful for some reverse etl use cases to push data to other systems without having to build a new custom target
g
Which means you could use this to pipe data from a postgres db to a web api. (ex an erp system or so?)
p
Exactly! I feel like the MDS in a box project (repo link) is another good example where you could extract data for somewhere, load it to duckdb, run dbt transformations, then push the results out to a web endpoint for an app of some sort

Similar concept of reverse ETL called https://www.valmi.io/ popped up recently over in Dagster Slack: https://dagster.slack.com/archives/CCCR6P597/p1687886190378759
