#8591 bug: TAP_NAME__SELECT_FILTER doesn't work for all taps Issue created by dluo-sig Meltano Version 3.4.2 Python Version 3.12 Bug scope CLI (options, error messages, logging, etc.) Operating System Windows 11 Description I was attempting to filter a run to a specific stream based on the documentation here, which suggested that there is a filter for
TAP_NAME__SELECT_FILTER
. Normally, I would've just went with the
el
command and using the
--select
parameter, but that's only supported on Linux. In any case, regardless of how I tried specifying it, the filter doesn't actually work. Either nothing or everything runs. For reference, I was using tap-mssql. @edgarrmondragon was able to help me figure it out, and there is a
TAP_NAME__SELECT
env variable available, which did work. However, we're unsure why this diverged or if there's some intended functional difference between the two. Possible solutions: 1. Update the documentation so that users are also aware of the
TAP_NAME__SELECT
env variable. 2. Implement
el
for Windows 3. Fix logic for
TAP_NAME__SELECT_FILTER
4. Consolidate the two so it's not confusing (if they serve the same purpose) Code No response meltano/meltano
