#7178 bug: `meltano.core.error.AsyncSubprocessError` does not include stderr in its message Issue created by WillDaSilva Meltano Version 2.13.0 Python Version NA Bug scope CLI (options, error messages, logging, etc.) Operating System N/A Description Context: https://meltano.slack.com/archives/C01TCRBBJD7/p1673946644755499 In the above case
meltano.core.venv_service::VenvService.create
is raising
AsyncSubprocessError
when running a subprocess for
python -m venv <venv name>
. This error ought to include the text from the stderr stream of the subprocess, since without that determining what went wrong is difficult. We can either update it to have a flag parameter that makes it include the process' stderr content after the message, or simply make it always include the text from stderr after the message. If we take the latter approach, then this would be a somewhat significant change to how Meltano reports error messages, since
AsyncSubprocessError
is widely used. Code Installing extractor 'tap-mysql'... Extractor 'tap-mysql' could not be installed: could not create the virtualenv for 'extractors/tap-mysql' Need help fixing this problem?
