Hi, I’ve been trying to get
tap-adwords
to accept custom
primary_keys
but I can’t seem to get it to work. When I follow https://meltano.com/plugins/extractors/adwords.html#primary-keys and set the variables like so in the
meltano.yml
file (pic of config in the thread + pic of
meltano config tap-adwords list
), meltano still uses the default value instead of the custom ones. When I set the env var as given in the same documentation it throws a
TypeError
on the processing of the config (pic also in thread). Can anyone show me what I’m doing wrong in setting this variable?? Thanks!

@paul_blankley I think you've found a bug! I think we may fix it by changing the
kind
of the
primary_key
setting from
hidden
to
object
: https://gitlab.com/meltano/meltano/blob/master/src/meltano/core/bundle/discovery.yml#L251 To try that out, could you download that
discovery.yml
file, put it in your project root, and make that change? That should get Meltano to pick it up, so if my hunch is right
meltano config tap-adwords list
should show the right thing after that
If that is indeed the solution, please create an issue and I'll prepare an MR with the fix!

That solves it! Thanks for the fast response. Stoked it’s such an easy fix. I created an issue with all of this documentation here https://gitlab.com/meltano/meltano/-/issues/2457

Perfect, thank you! The one downside of that change is that the field will now show up in the UI, which isn't actually prepared to handle
object
fields yet, so in my MR to fix this for the world, I'll need to work around that as well
