Hi all I'm having difficulty installing
pipelinewise-tap-mysql
, have followed the custom plugin install guide but am getting the following when running
Copy code
meltano select --list pipelinewise-tap-mysql
Copy code
meltano.core.plugin_invoker.ExecutableNotFoundError: Executable 'pipelinewise-tap-mysql' could not be found. Extractor 'pipelinewise-tap-mysql' may not have been installed yet using `meltano install extractor pipelinewise-tap-mysql`, or the executable name may be incorrect.
The configuration exists in meltano.yml, and the virtualenv exists in .meltano/extractors. Any ideas?
I get the same when I try to run it:
(.venv) ➜ demo-project meltano elt pipelinewise-tap-mysql target-jsonl --job_id=mysql-test
meltano | Running extract & load...
meltano | No state was found, complete import.
ELT could not be completed: Cannot start tap or target: Executable 'pipelinewise-tap-mysql' could not be found. Extractor 'pipelinewise-tap-mysql' may not have been installed yet using `meltano install extractor pipelinewise-tap-mysql`, or the executable name may be incorrect.
I'm using pyenv to switch to Python 3.7.9 from my default 3.8.5, could that be problematic?
I can successfully run
meltano config pipelinewise-tap-mysql
and configure it that way.

If you explore the
.meltano
directory, you will find a virtual environment directory for each tap, including this one. Inside that venv's
bin
directory, there should be some executables. I assume you will find one that is named something different. Whatever you find should match the
executable
property in the tap's config in meltano.yml. What do you see?

@niall_woodward Your executable name is incorrect! As you can see under https://github.com/transferwise/pipelinewise-tap-mysql#sync-mode, the executable is named
tap-mysql
, even though the plugin itself is called
pipelinewise-tap-mysql
. If you change the
executable
property in
meltano.yml
, you should be good!

Ah thank you @douwe_maan!
