Whats the difference between settings and config in meltano.yml?

settings

provide metadata about the configuration options a plugin supports, which would be in

meltano.yml

for custom plugins, but in Meltano's bundled

discovery.yml

for known plugins.

config

actually hold configuration by mapping setting names to values

OK that makes sense. In discovery.yml, some of the settings have a

value

attribute, which I assume is a default value. But I don't see where it fits in the layers https://meltano.com/docs/command-line-interface.html#config
