Where can I go for some general help? I was approached by our data guy about this great product and me being the sysadmin will bang my head until I have gone past concussion stage to get this to work. I have completed this install and actually had the page up... but I had to set the ip address and reboot... now I don't know how to restart these services... I know I know... I'm asking a question of obvious people who use Linux/Unix and know it like I know Windows. This is the first time I installed Linux in... 20 years... So any help would be appreciated..

Okay, so let me recap here: • Meltano is installed on a machine you own • You got it running in the first place • You want to bring it back up Can you tell me the OS you are running?
s
I'm running Debian version 10. That's correct, I was able to follow all of the instructions on the website... Had to change the IP, rebooted the machine, and now I want to restart it

okay, so we don't ship
systemd
services with the python package per default, but you can look at our packer template for an inspiration: https://gitlab.com/meltano/meltano/-/blob/master/cloud/packer/files/etc/systemd/system/meltano.service
The whole https://gitlab.com/meltano/meltano/-/tree/master/cloud/packer/ directory is used to generate our DigitalOcean Marketplace image.
The scripts there should give you a rough idea of what we are doing to setup the instance.
s
where do you find the $MELTANO_ROOT variable?
when i try to run something it tells me I'm in the wrong directory... but I need to run it using ./Meltano ...

Oh, you have to create a meltano project in the first place — that can be wherever you want. On our instance we put in under /var/meltano/project.
mkdir /var/meltano
cd /var/meltano
meltano init <project-name>
cd <project-name>

# you are now in your Meltano Project
meltano ui
but I need to run it using ./Meltano
You should
source
the virtual environment so it works everywhere (keep in mind that this is per-shell session)
source /usr/uswit/.venv/meltano/bin/activate
