Maybe more #C01TCRBBJD7, but any idea why
setuptools
is removed on fresh install of my local
meltano
fork using
poetry
here? I have to
pip install setuptools
to get
meltano
to work at all.
w
Perhaps Meltano is missing a dependency, though I'm not sure why this wouldn't be affecting more of us
Rather,
flask-security
seems to be missing a dependency. Maybe they assume that
setuptools
will always be installed and sufficiently up-to-date.
@Reuben (Matatika) Could you please test the branch
add-setuptools-dep
from https://github.com/meltano/meltano/pull/6841, and see if that fixes this issue?
r
Same issue again @Will Da Silva (Arch)
w
Do you mean Poetry is removing setuptools despite it explicitly being a dependency?
r
Yep - see here...
w
https://github.com/python-poetry/poetry/issues/4242#issuecomment-1014054850 Might be this issue. Apparently it's been fixed in Poetry 1.2
What version of Poetry are you using?
poetry --version
If you're on a version earlier than 1.2, please do me a favour and not update it just yet. I'd like to see if updating the
poetry-core
version in
pyproject.toml
to
>=1.2.0
is sufficient to fix this problem.
r
Yeah, I'm on
1.1.13
currently.
w
Did updating the
poetry-core
version in
pyproject.toml
fix the issue?
r
Nope 🫤
Assuming you mean the version in
requires
under
[build-system]
.
w
Okay. I was hoping it would, but this doesn't surprise me. I suppose there's nothing that we can do programmatically to fix this. We'll all just have to ensure we're using Poetry >= 1.2.0
r
Yeah, upgrade fixes this for me. Thanks for your help! 😃 @Will Da Silva (Arch)
