I’d like to add some unit tests to the SDK, but there are a whole bunch of errors that pop up when I run
poetry run pytest
all of them are related to a lack of configuration. Does anyone know how I can resolve them?

Can you try with the following? This is how CI is configured to run from forks:
poetry run pytest singer_sdk/tests/core
poetry run pytest singer_sdk/tests/cookiecutters
Some of the tests in the
tests/external
folder require auth against external sources, like google analytics and gitlab.
Note this is in progress (ETA this week) and this is a logged issue to improve the contributor experience overall at it relates to tests. I think ideally we would use pytest
skipif
(or similar) to not require those external tests when auth is not provided.

All the tests captured by the commands you posted above work. I’ll just keep the pytest runs more narrow then. Thanks!!

Great, thanks @josh_lloyd. Just out of curiosity, do you have a specific set of tests you are looking like to contribute?
j
yeah, just the ones that apply to the new schema inference feature I’m trying to implement. you can see them in my MR here.
