Summary by Sourcery
Add new managed connector docs and Meltano Cloud pipeline diagnosis documentation while tightening include_paths safety, improving signal handling and logging behaviour, and updating tooling, CI, and packaging for the 4.2.2 release.
New Features:
• Introduce new managed connector catalog entries and pages for Zendesk, SurveyMonkey, Rakuten Advertising, Weather API extractors, and a ClickHouse loader, including type badges and filtering in the connectors index.
• Add a Meltano Cloud Pipeline Diagnosis guide and Cloud changelog section with separate Meltano Cloud/Open tabs and multiple new Cloud release entries.
• Expose new CLI and invoke capabilities, including refresh-catalog support for Singer taps, FORCE_COLOR handling for colored logs, and a MELTANO_RUN_FORCE option to force pipeline runs.
• Add full ClickHouse store documentation and support for using ClickHouse as a data store, including dbt and state backend integration, plus MotherDuck store support in the Cloud changelog.
Bug Fixes:
• Harden project include_paths handling to reject non-files, path traversal, and symlink escapes, and ensure meltano.yml always resides within the project root.
• Fix job, CLI, and run signal handling so SIGTERM sets a dedicated flag, cancels running tasks gracefully where supported, and exits with status 143 when appropriate.
• Ensure .env files created by the DotEnv store are written with owner-only permissions and that state and project update context managers correctly propagate exceptions.
• Resolve logging and version-check issues by honoring FORCE_COLOR/NO_COLOR interactions, standardising NotFound messages, and routing version checks through a central get_meltano_version helper.
• Stabilise flaky tracking tests by marking them xfail and adjust integration validation to align with updated dbt output metrics.
Enhancements:
• Refine ProjectFiles to track in-project paths with stronger typing and safer YAML loading, improving split-config handling and duplicate-plugin detection.
• Generalise name-based lookup by enhancing the NameEq mixin with type-safe equality, hashing, and a find_by_name helper, and refactor schedule and environment services to use NotFound instead of custom errors.
• Improve logging configuration and formatting, including structured callsite tracebacks, safer exception rendering, and cleaner blog/changelog UI components in the docs site.
• Enhance venv management with a uv-based backend that supports preview mode and richer type hints for async subprocess execution, plus better decimal handling in YAML caching.
• Tighten type checking and static analysis by widening mypy coverage, enabling Ruff preview rules, updating ty, and relaxing selected ignores while wiring mypy_path to the src layout.
Build:
• Bump project and docs versions to 4.2.2 and update Python tooling dependencies including hatchling, uv, SQLAlchemy, mypy, Ruff, eslint, Prettier, and related configs.
• Update Docusaurus, React, Webpack, and Netlify config for the docs site, including Node 22 support and stricter undici pinning.
• Switch maintenance automation from Dependabot to Renovate and refresh pre-commit hook pins for ruff, uv, eslint, and related tooling.
CI:
• Update GitHub Actions workflows to newer checkout, setup-python, uv, CodeQL, Docker login, CodSpeed, and zizmor action versions across tests, builds, benchmarks, integration tests, and security scans.
• Broaden integration test triggers to cover additional integration paths and ensure coverage and typing jobs share the updated toolchain.
Deployment:
• Refresh Docker build-and-push composite action to use newer checkout, CodeQL SARIF upload, and Docker login actions for image scanning and publishing.
Documentation:
• Add and expand connector documentation for Outlook and SharePoint spreadsheet taps, IMAP spreadsheets, Weather API, Zendesk, Rakuten Advertising, SurveyMonkey, and ClickHouse, including detailed settings and stream references.
• Introduce Meltano Cloud index and Pipeline Diagnosis documentation, update workspace management guidance around HOME_PAGE, and refine CLI reference docs for color handling, invoke refresh-catalog, and MELTANO_RUN_FORCE.
• Reorganise and restyle changelog and blog components, including a new Cloud changelog blog, navigation tabs, back links, and visual tweaks to sidebars, titles, and buttons.
• Update contributor docs with a StoreNotSupportedError example and refine style guidelines and various tutorial snippets for clarity and consistency.
Tests:
• Add regression tests around include_paths validation, path traversal and symlink escapes, non-YAML includes, and self-matching include patterns.
• Extend job and CLI tests to cover SIGTERM handling, cancellation semantics, CLI exit-code tracking, and new logging color-env behaviour.
• Add invoke tests for the refresh-catalog option and its effect on cached catalog overrides, and venv tests for uv backend preview mode and clean installs.
• Augment settings-store tests to verify .env file permissions and expand version-check tests to rely on get_meltano_version rather than importlib metadata.
• Mark flaky tracking tests as expected failures to reduce noise while preserving coverage.
Chores:
• Record new 4.2.2 and 3.9.5 changelog entries capturing include_paths fixes and related changes, and update issue templates with the new version default.
• Minor cleanups across code and docs, including removing unused helpers like find_named, tightening type hints, and adjusting various comments, examples, and formatting.
